Deer Lake Cabin's Horseback Riding

There is no better way to experience the sights and sounds of the East Texas Piney Woods than by horseback. The Double S Ranch, and its nearly 900 hundred expansive acres, boasts 12 miles of trails that meander throughout the property.

Horseback rides allow guests to get an up close and personal look at the vast wildlife population that inhabit the ranch such as deer, armadillos, raccoons and foxes. Depending on the season, guests are treated to some of the most fantastic colors of flora and fauna in the area. In the spring the trails are bright and colorful from the blooming flowers, dogwood trees and wisteria vines. Then in the fall, the red, orange and yellow tones of the changing leaves create a completely, equally beautiful, scene.

The horses used for rides on the ranch are former competition horses and have years of experience being ridden, ensuring that guests have a safe and enjoyable experience. All rides are lead and supervised by a Double S Ranch staff member.

Careful instructions and directions are given prior to the ride to make sure riders of all ages and experience levels are comfortable on his/her horse. Horseback rides can be scheduled for any day of the week.
